Dear Parents and carers

I am writing in respect of the recent Ofsted progress monitoring inspection of the Institute of Islamic Education (23-24 November 2021). The report is uploaded on our website and can be found at the end of the page. The previous inspection found many failings in the Independent School Standards, most areas that were previously unmet are now met. I would like to humbly inform you that the school is now on a trajectory to achieving good at its next full Ofsted inspection. The majority of the Failures of the previous inspection have been signed off by Ofsted and subsequent Audit by Kirklees Local Authority has identified that the school has made substantial progress in Safeguarding which was carried out soon after the Ofsted Inspection.
+We, the Executive Board and myself, have recruited a highly experienced school
improvement consultant who is an inspector for the independent school’s inspectorate and
an ex-state school head who is also an inspector for Ofsted. The Ofsted inspectors have
highly praised the efforts of the trustees in appointing these highly experienced consultants
and the impact they were having.
+We have deployed a new safeguarding software Cpoms to ensure any communication gaps that resulted in the delay in referral is addressed and have appointed a new designated safeguarding lead.
+ I have been appointed as the new Executive Headteacher and have an excellent track record
in leading successful independent faith schools, including boarding schools. We have also
appointed new experienced educationalists to the executive board to strengthen
governance and accountability. These measures are already having an impact, as there are
now clear lines of accountability. Ofsted has praised this in their recent monitoring visit.

We recognise that further work is required to ensure that all staff understand their responsibilities to safeguard pupils- this plan is underway and we believe after Kirklees audit it is now in place. We however do not want to be complacent and will continue staff CPD in this critical area. We also recognise that all leaders in the school must execute their responsibilities with due diligence so that the school is a safe place to learn, live and work. We will be monitoring the school’s progress and take timely action when necessary. We would like to end by stating that the students GCSE results have been outstanding.
We acknowledge, appreciate and thank the efforts of all of our dedicated staff, students, their
parents and our supporters and well-wishers who are constantly helping and supporting us in
many ways. May Allah reward you all in both worlds.

We intend to have an online parent meeting on the 9th of February, 2022 at 6:00 pm and will
continue to keep you informed of our progress.

Yusuf Seedat
Executive Headteacher and on behalf of The Executive Board
